What Calcium Does? It is the most abundant mineral found in the body. Maximum of Body’s Calcium is found in Body’s Bones & Teeth. Would you believe Calcium is found at 14, 000 ppm in our Body! Calcium is required by the body for proper assimilation of other nutrients in the body (Vitamin-D, Vitamin-K, Mg, P). For Proper Absorption & Assimilation of Calcium in The body, Other Nutrients Too are required, such as Vitamin D & K, Magnesium & Phosphorous, and Carbohydrates. Absorption of calcium reduces after an age of approximately 45 (especially women after menopause) and hence it is necessary to take some calcium from outside, Limestone (Chuna) is a viable alternative, if one doesn’t have Kidney Related Issues.
It does following functions in the body:
- Provides strength to Bones & Teeth,
- Helps proper functioning of Heart, Nerves, Muscles & Other Body Systems,
- Prevents Osteoporosis,
- Abdominal-Digestive System,
- Other Things as mentioned under ‘Calcium deficiency May Lead To’.
Reasons for Shortage of Calcium: Ageing, Chronic Ailments, Side-Effects of Medications, Excess Coffee Drinking & Smoking & Alcoholism. Improper absorption of Calcium in The Body such as due Ailments such as Crohn’s Disease.
Calcium Deficiency may lead to:
- High Blood Pressure (High Cholesterol),
- Rickets (Softening & Weakening of Bones),
- Colon Cancer.

Procedure to consume Chuna: Mix 1 wheat grain size Chuna (Limestone) in warm water, keep it undisturbed for 10-15 minutes, filter it and drink the water. Not for Kidney Patients – Obviously!!
