What Calcium Does? It is the most abundant mineral found in the body. Maximum of Body’s Calcium is found in Body’s Bones & Teeth. Would you believe Calcium is found at 14, 000 ppm in our Body! Calcium is required by the body for proper assimilation of other nutrients in the body (Vitamin-D, Vitamin-K, Mg, P). For Proper Absorption & Assimilation of Calcium in The body, Other Nutrients Too are required, such as Vitamin D & K, Magnesium & Phosphorous, and Carbohydrates. Absorption of calcium reduces after an age of approximately 45 (especially women after menopause) and hence it is necessary to take some calcium from outside, Limestone (Chuna) is a viable alternative, if one doesn’t have Kidney Related Issues.

Plant Sources:           Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Hazelnuts, Broccoli, Cabbage, Dried Figs, Dark Leafy Greens (Dandelion, Turnip, Mustard, Kale), Leafy green vegetables (Spinach (पालक), Cauliflower, Fenugreek Leaves (मैथी), Beans (फलियां), Black Sesame Seeds-Oil, Blackstrap Molasses (or also Jaggery-Gur).

Fruit Juices:                Banana, Apple Skin, Dates or dried dates, Almonds, Figs (Anjira)…

Animal Sources:        Cheese, Low Fat Dairy Products (A2 Ghee, A2 Milk, Butter-Milk, Yogurt).

Herbs & spices:         Fennel Seeds (सौंफ), Asafoetida (Heeng, in Hindi), Giloy (Guduchi), Coral (Parval Pishti), Pearl (Mukta Pishti)

Limestone (Chuna, Paan Chuna or Chuna Lime, Limestone or Pickling Lime) is another cool source of Calcium, it contains Calcium Carbonate. Becomes more assimilative-absorbable in acidic environment, and hence is taken with a glass of Orange or Lime or Lemon Juice.

Procedure to consume Chuna: Mix 1 wheat grain size Chuna (Limestone) in warm water, keep it undisturbed for 10-15 minutes, filter it and drink the water. Not for Kidney Patients – Obviously!!

Calcium Carbonate also works as an Antacid, Please do avoid at all costs ‘Aluminium Laden Antacids-easily Available OTC!!’
